Starting the West Highland Way

Tuesday, July 29

Took the train from Glasgow Queen Street Station to Milngavie to the start of the trail. Picked up a sandwich at a nice bakery in Milngavie before stepping onto the trail.

There was a very obvious starting point where we just walked down a ramp on onto the trail. The trail was an easy-to-follow wide track across farmland and parkland. It was 12 miles to Dryman, where we stayed at the Buchannan Arms Hotel and “Spa”. It was quite the classic hotel, where we had a spacious hotel room and had a more fancy dinner in their dining room.

We also got our first viewing of Scottish Highland cows also known as Hairy Coos.
